Job Description:
As a CEI Inspector, your role involves assisting the Senior Inspector in overseeing the contractor's on-site construction activities and inspecting materials to verify adherence to plans, specifications, and other contractual documents. The preferred candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, collaborative teamwork, and exhibit qualities such as enthusiasm, motivation, honesty, and reliability.
Responsibilities encompass a wide range, including but not limited to:
- Construction Inspection: Scrutinize the construction work through field tests and inspections to guarantee compliance with plans and specifications.
- Material Sampling and Testing: Conduct sampling and testing of component materials and completed work to uphold quality standards.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain comprehensive records of the contractor's daily operations, covering manpower, equipment usage, construction methods, and any events impacting the work.
- Work Zone Traffic Control: Monitor the effectiveness of the work zone traffic control plan, identifying discrepancies and potential issues for prompt resolution.
- Erosion Control Oversight: Keep a close eye on the erosion control plan, identifying any discrepancies and potential issues to ensure compliance.
- Dimension Verification: Verify the dimensions of both prepared and completed work to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Quantity Tracking: Monitor and measure completed work quantities accurately for payment purposes.
- Survey Checks: Perform survey checks to validate the precision and alignment of construction elements.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction inspection. Of this experience, at least one (1) year should be in bridge and/or roadway construction.
- Engineering Degree: Alternatively, hold a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, preferably with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in construction inspection. This specific experience should be in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection. (Note: Engineer Intern classification mandates possession of an E.I. certificate)
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Possess a Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
- Obtain necessary certifications and successfully pass qualification tests relevant to the position within specified time frames.
- Demonstrate physical capabilities to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for extended periods, even under diverse outdoor conditions.
- Exhibit the ability to reach both horizontally and vertically for required tasks.
- Competent in using construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection.
- Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
